Avant-Garde Slides
by Eileen Roche
Enjoy this
project from my most
recent book, Contemporary Machine-Embroidered Accessories
(Krause Publications, Iola, WI, 2007) released December 15,
2007.
I
love this delicate lace that edges the shoe upper. I think it’s
a romantic touch to a mundane sandal. Just stitch on tulle and
then attach it to the shoe. Don’t nitpick on perfection.
Remember, shoes are on the floor— far from critical eyes. Don’t
be concerned about trimming every fiber of the tulle or having a
bit of leather show beyond the embroidery. If you’ve made a
mistake, forgive yourself, make the best of it, and move on.
Good lesson for life, too!
Embroider
1. Hoop water-soluble
stabilizer and two layers of tulle. Embroider four repeats of
MEA14, re-hooping as necessary.

Save stabilizer with Magna-Hoop. Since only the stabilizer is
hooped when using Magna-Hoop, it is not always necessary to
completely re-hoop stabilizer between projects.
